Broken Hearts in the Speech Room

Happy Valentine's Day! We are making broken heart posters today. Check them out:
We are also continuing to use the heart rubber stamps. Everything is more fun with a few hearts stamped on it:

It's Raining Hearts in the Speech Room!

We read The Day It Rained Hearts by Felicia Bond today. After reading the story, the students used heart shaped rubber stamps (they were on sale at Michael's for $1.50!) to make it rain hearts on some worksheets that I had my hubby make. Each time they said their sound or did a speech flashcard, they added a heart.

Dragons Love Tacos!

I love tacos. And I am crazy about the book Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin. It is such a cute story! As soon as I read this story, I knew I wanted to make a game out of it for my students. My sweet husband, Josh, was able to create the taco and dragon graphics for me and I made a simple game that can be used with other artic/language cards and easily modified to meet the needs of different students.

My students really enjoyed the book and activity.

I recommend mounting the cards on construction paper or cardstock before laminating - some of my students could see the Spicy Salsa or Game Over cards through the white paper (oops!).

The Taco Party card game including instructions, taco game cards, taco articulation cards for S and R, categories cards, and a blank template for making your own cards can all be downloaded for free at my Teachers Pay Teachers page.
